Astrology Chinese
Chinese Astrology is a psychic reading that gives a characteristic to a person accordingly to the date of birth. Chinese calendar closely correlates with the Chinese philosophy and is mostly defined by the year the person was born. Because of the difference between western and Chinese calendars (Chinese year starts a month later) it is important to indicate not only the year of birth, but the date of birth too.
While Western Astrology is founded on the month of the year (12 signs cycle per year), Chinese astrology is based on a twelve year lunar cycle that represents 12 different animals that stand for the type of personality and the cycle of ten heavenly stems (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water in their Yin and Yang forms). This actually creates a 60-year calendar – a period of time when the combination can repeat.
Chosen animals are not random. There is a legend that tells that animals were picked by Buddha. When Buddha was dying he asked all the animals to go with him, but only twelve of them accepted his invitation. That is why they were honored to represent the years in the calendar. Twelve animals are (in order they go in the calendar): the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and boar.
